1st Sunday in Lent B

Worship God, serve only him

Sentence
The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe the good news. Mk.1:15

Collects
Lord Jesus Christ, for our sake you fasted forty days and forty nights; give us grace to use such abstinence that, our flesh being subdued to the spirit, we may always obey your will in righteousness and true holiness, to your honour and glory; for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for evermore. Amen. BCP. Lent 1

Let us pray [that we may grow in the self-sacrificing love of Christ]
Father, help us to understand the meaning of your Sons death and resurrection, and teach us to reflect it in our lives. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. AAPB

God of the new and eternal covenant, as the forty days of the great flood swept away the world's corruption and watered new beginnings of righteousness and life; grant to us, who are washed clean and born again in the saving flood of baptism, the wellspring of your grace, that your gift of new life may flourish once again; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. APBA
