Words and Songs for the Church Year

2nd Sunday in Lent B

Cross-bearing discipleship*

Sentence
If you want to become a disciple of Jesus, deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow him. Mark 8:34

Collects
We beseech you, almighty God, look on the heartfelt desires of your servants and stretch forth the right hand of your power to be our defence against all our enemies; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BCP. Lent 3.

Let us pray [that we may respond to the Word of God]
God our Father, help us to hear your Son. Enlighten us with your word, that we may find the way to your glory. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. AAPB

God of all times and places, In Jesus Christ, who was lifted up on the cross, you opened for us the path to eternal life: grant that we, being born again of water and the Spirit, may joyfully serve you in newness of life and faithfully walk in your holy ways; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. APBA
