1st Sunday in Advent B

Your redemption is near at hand

Sentence
'Heaven and earth will pass away', says the Lord, 'but my words will not pass away.' Mark 13:31

Collects
Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came among us in great humility; that on the last day, when he comes again in his glorious majesty to judge the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen. BCP. Advent 1

Let us pray [that we may be ready for Christ's coming.]
All-powerful God, increase our strength of will for doing good that Christ may fin an eager welcome at his coming and call us to his side in the kingdom of heaven, where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. AAPB

Eternal God, through long generations you prepare a way for the coming of your Son, and by your Spirit you still bring light to illumine our paths: renew us in faith and hope that we may welcome Christ to rule our thoughts and claim our love; to whom be glory for ever. Amen. APBA
